4 Highlights:
- “Donuts and Bagels” is an artistic transformation of food forms, attempting to unearth deeper cultural and personal memories and how these memories leave their mark on our lives. Each piece explores the relationships between identity, memory, and time, presenting life’s invisible yet ubiquitous connections through material and immaterial interfaces.

- CHOY Hoi Ying’s works, “Bagel Circles & Bagel Holes” and “My Last Shell,” use the circular shape of bagels and the soft texture of donuts to explore the connections between matter and space, past and future. In “Bagel Circles & Bagel Holes,” she utilizes the circular shape of bagels to create a series of interactive installation art, allowing the audience to participate in the creation process through digital connections and origami. This makes the artwork more participatory and symbolizes the interaction between people and space. “My Last Shell” is a more reflective piece. CHOY Hoi Ying uses the circular shape of donuts and bagels to form a snail shell, representing personal growth, expressing reflections on past experiences and thoughts about the future.

- SHUM Hok Kiu’s “Through Those Moments of Inspiration” starts from a more abstract perspective. He combines the cutting steps in the donut-making process with the landscape of his childhood residence, creating a painting depicting the scenery of his old home. This work reflects the transfer of material and space and explores how individuals find self-identity and independence in different environments. By cutting and reassembling donuts, Shum symbolizes the constant changes in life and how people maintain coherence through these transitions.

- HO Hou Wun’s work, “Stark Contrast,” uses materials like wire and foam. Through these everyday and ephemeral materials, he explores the contradiction between the immediacy of baking and the lasting value of artistic creation.
