當香港體育遇上藝術 | WHEN SPORTS MEETS ART

運動與藝術好像從來都互不相干,前者剛烈而後者柔和。一新美術館近日舉辦「一新剛柔:香港藝術家與運動家」展覽,以繪畫聯繫香港運動員和藝術家,讓細膩的筆觸表現運動員的氣勢和堅毅。展覽與體壇盛事東京奧運同步進行,希望可以發揚香港體育精神。

Sports and art never seem to relate to each other, the former is fierce and the latter one is gentle. The Sun Museum recently has held the exhibition ” Sports in Hong Kong Art”, which connects Hong Kong athletes and artists with paintings, and expresses the vigor and perseverance of the athletes with the exquisite brushstrokes. The exhibition will be held coinciding with the Tokyo Olympics, it is hoped to be promote the sportsmanship of Hong Kong.

Alex Gamsu Jenkins: 人類醜陋不堪的真面目| UGLY HUMAN BEINGS

13世紀神道會神父聖多瑪斯阿奎納列曾舉出各種惡七宗罪行的表現,分別是貪食、好色、貪財、傷悲、憤怒、懶惰、自負及驕傲。而英國插畫家Alex Gamsu Jenkins將這七種人類最醜陋的惡行,畫成一幅又一幅怪誕奇異的漫畫,將我們不願承認的現實毫無保留的、血淋淋的呈現出來。

The seven deadly sins are seven behaviors or feelings that lead to more sin, according to Roman Catholic theology. They are pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth. The British illustrator Alex Gamsu Jenkins has turned these seven worst human sins into bizarre caricatures, presenting the reality we don’t want to admit without reservation.

去性別化後的英雄 | A DE-GENDERED HERO : ZE/RO

英雄,超群出眾、作出巨大貢獻的人,英文是: Hero,其中的「He」像是代表英雄就是男性的專利。牛津英語詞典為中性的第三方訂立了新詞彙「Ze」,令Hero以後或可叫做Zero,而英雄再無男女之別。布朗畫廊於7至8月在香港空間呈獻「Ze/Ro」展覽,說明女性如何從思想和身體體現自己在社會上的價值。

Hero refers to people who are outstanding or made a great contribution to the people. However, the “He” in the word seems to represent being hero is the privilege of male. Meanwhile, the Oxford English Dictionary has created a new word “Ze” to represent non-binary gender identities, making Hero a Zero. Ben Brown Fine Arts is presenting the “Ze/Ro” exhibition at the Hong Kong gallery from July to August, illustrates how women empower themselves and embody their value in society by means of their minds and bodies.

When looking at Gao Yan’s painting, readers can always feel that a burst of warm wind of the early summer has been blown by one’s side at the moment, where the old memories slip through the fingers in a flash. It’s hard to believe she’s just under 25 years old, as her works are so poetic, subtle and nostalgic. She has even touched the heart of Japanese literary master Haruki Murakami.

肺炎肆虐之際,生活模式不但被改變,更沒有辦法出國旅遊。黃進曦亦只能透過Google Earth漫遊世界,看著螢幕展開一場「孤高」的虛擬旅程,帶我們走過馬丘比丘、馬特洪峰和富士山。

As the coronavirus is raging, life pattern is not only changed, but it is impossible to travel abroad as well. Wong can also only travel the world through Google Earth, watching the screen as he embarking on a virtual journey that would take us to Machu Picchu, the Matterhorn and Mount Fuji.

Pierfrancesco Celada:「打卡碼頭」 | THE INSTAGRAM PIER

西區公眾貨物裝卸區近年以「港版天空之鏡」之名在社交媒體上一舉成名,人群蜂擁而至到此「打卡」,因此也被譽爲Instagram Pier,但很不幸地本年年初碼頭宣佈封閉。四年前旅居香港的Pierfrancesco Celada忽爾發現到這個地方,並為這個轟動一時的拍照聖地留下了近三萬張倩影。

The Western Public Cargo Working Area has sprung into fame on social media in recent years as “Hong Kong’s version of the mirror in the sky”. Since then, crowds flocked to the pier to take pictures for the Instagram. Therefore, the pier is named as the “Instagram Pier”as well but it was unfortunately closed earlier this year. Four years ago, Pierfrancesco Celada, who was living in Hong Kong, discovered the place and took nearly 30, 000 pictures of it.
