iPRECIATION’s exhibition “Echoes and Resonances: The Interconnection of Being and Becoming” features more than 30 works by five outstanding artists, providing an opportunity to explore the complex relationship between life, meaning and art. These artists’ creative processes and artistic concerns reflect the philosophical notion of the interconnectedness of being and becoming, capturing the dynamic interaction between being and change, individual and environment, subjectivity and collective.

Why it matters:
The exhibition features the works of five outstanding artists – Milenko Prvački (born in Yugoslavia/Singapore in 1951), Oh Chai Hoo (born in Singapore in 1960), Chiew Sien Kuan, Boo Sze Yang (born in Singapore in 1965) and Raymond Yap (born in Malaysia/Singapore in 1966). Striking a balance between Eastern philosophy and contemporary artistic expression, the Buddhist concept of “form is emptiness and emptiness is form” resonates deeply with the artists’ approaches in this exhibition. In “Echoes and Resonances,” the artists challenge traditional methods and create a richly layered, non-linear visual experience. Their paintings are characterised by rich canvases of dots, lines, shapes and colours that float, overlap and conflict with each other in a non-literal way. These elements do not follow a sequential or hierarchical relationship but interact in a way that creates chaos and variety. This approach suggests that reality is a complex network of interconnected elements rather than a series of discrete objects.

3 Highlights:
- The artists in the exhibition “Echoes and Resonances” reflect on the nature of existence, perception and reality. Their works encourage viewers to consider the fluid boundaries between form and void, reality and illusion, and to find beauty and meaning in their interactions. This exhibition is a visual experience and an invitation to a philosophical journey, where viewing becomes a meditation on the interconnectedness of all things.

- At its core, all art is abstract. Art goes beyond verbal expression to convey ideas, emotions, and experiences through different media, such as painting, sculpture, music, or literature. Even realist or figurative art contains abstract elements such as symbolism, metaphor, or subjective perspective. The essence of art lies in its ability to evoke deeper meanings beyond the surface, allowing viewers to engage in a process of interpretation that reflects their own experiences and reflections.

- The exhibition “Echoes and Resonances” invites viewers to interact with artworks on a personal level. The interaction between viewers and art is a process of co-creation. The artworks are mirrors reflecting personal desires and fears and bridges connecting them to new perspectives and experiences. Art provides a space for introspection and self-discovery, inviting viewers to explore their inner landscapes while participating in the artist’s vision and the broader human experience. Through this dynamic and reciprocal relationship, art demonstrates its depth and importance, transforming the experience of art into a meaningful journey of personal growth and universal connection.
