On 30 November, Christies’ Hong Kong held a series of live auctions Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art: The Chang Wei-Hwa Collection of Archaic Jades – Xia, Shang and Western Zhou Dynasties, Inspiring the mind – Life a scholar-official, Imperial Glories from the Springfield Museums Collection, and Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art. Both ‘The Chang Wei-Hwa Collection of Archaic Jades’ and ‘Imperial Glories from the Springfield Museums Collection’ were 100% sold, while 84% of lots sold in the former surpassed their high estimates

蘇富比「中國古代書畫」秋拍於10月8日圓滿結束。專場重磅推薦石渠秘珍雙璧，任仁發《五王醉歸圖》及黃鉞、趙秉冲《司空圖二十四詩品冊》，兩幅皆流傳有序，著錄豐富，不容錯過。《五王醉歸圖》以宋箋紙寫成，品相良好，色彩明亮，線條勾勒凝練瀟灑，古今中外，識者皆珍；黃鉞、趙秉冲《司空圖二十四詩品冊》全冊書法端莊俊逸，繪畫清雅雋秀，頗具文人趣味。

Sotheby’s Fine Classical Chinese Paintings 2020 Autumn Auction successfully came to an end on October 8th, 2020. The sale was led by two masterpieces formerly in the Qing Imperial Collection, namely Ren Renfa’s Five Drunken Princes Returning on Horseback and Huang Yue; Zhao Bingchong’s Landscapes after Si Kongtu. The exquisite handscroll painting Five Drunken Princes Returning on Horseback demonstrates Ren’s delightful use of colour and lively yet concise brushstrokes. Another highlightLandscapes after Si Kongtu was a compilation of distinguished calligraphy works and paintings by Qing masters Huang Yue and Zhao Bingchong.

On October 6th, 2020, Christie’s opened 20th Century Week with a highly successful Evening Sale of 20th Century Art, live streamed from New York. From Impressionism’s opening moments to cutting-edge contemporary art, the sale tracked the major movements of the modern art canon. Its featured works reflected the experimentation of this momentous era and shaped art as we know it today. The innovative event turned out to be a huge success, achieving $340,851,500, and selling 84% by lot.

Following on from the success of the debut Monochrome sale, Sotheby’s Hong Kong presented ‘Monochrome II’ Chinese Works of Art Autumn Sale on 9th, October. 21 pieces of Huanghuali furniture from an important collection dominated the sale by fetching a total of HK$202,628,000. Besides, the auction also included a superb selection of Qing imperial monochrome porcelain from an important Asian private collection, selected archaic jades from the celebrated Hei-Chi collection, as well as a group of Song dynasty black teabowls from the Aoyama Studio collection.

This October, Sotheby’s held the third livestream auction event, “Modernités / Contemporary”, and brought together two sales of Modern and Contemporary art from the global calendar – one in London and one in Paris. As a result, the sale has achieved an unparalleled success, with total proceedings reaching up to $90.4 MILLION. Banksy’s ‘Show Me the Monet’ was sold for $9.8 MILLION after a nine-minute bidding battle among 6 bidders.

On 30th, November, Christie’s Hong Kong will hold a live auction themed on ‘Imperial Glories From The Springfield Museum’ and present a dedicated sale of Chinese art works from the Springfield Museums, the largest cultural institution in Western Massachusetts. The sale will comprise twelve jade and cloisonné enamel pieces from the Qing dynasty (1644-1911), reflecting the past glory of this empire that no longer exists.

2020年10月8日，香港蘇富比成功舉辦中國書畫拍賣會，呈獻逾百幀近現代書畫作品，包括張大千、吳冠中、溥儒、齊白石、黃賓虹、黃君璧、吳昌碩、丁衍庸等名家傑構，廣涉冊頁、手卷、成扇等不同形式，琳琅滿目。本次拍賣最終圓滿收槌，總交易額高達2.67億港元，成交率達93%。

On 8 October, 2020, Sotheby’s successfully held a Fine Chinese Paintings Sale, presenting over a hundred modern Chinese paintings and calligraphy from celebrated artists such as Zhang Daqian, Wu Guanzhong, Pu Ru, Qi Baishi, Huang Binhong, Huang Junbi, Wu Changshuo and Ding Yanyong.  This auction turned out to be a huge success, with more than 93% lots sold and reaching up to HK$267 Million in total.

Autumn in Hong Kong is always beautiful. From 5-10 October, 2020, China Guardian (Hong Kong) held its autumn auctions 2020 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This first major auction of the year showcased a wide array of artworks from all over the world, including Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art, Ceramics and Works of Arts, and Classical Chinese Furniture, offering nearly 1300 lots.
