The exhibition offers a unique lens into Hong Kong’s cultural and social pulse through cross-generational comic manuscripts. Bringing together the Wong family’s Old Master Q, Andy Szeto’s Cyber Weapon Z, and Pen So’s Kowloon Walled City, the showcase uses comics as historical witnesses to urban narratives spanning the 1960s to today. Each artist’s distinct creative voice—from satirical humor to sci-fi imagination to intricate monochrome linework—weaves together multiple facets of Hong Kong’s cultural identity.

1️⃣父子傳承的老夫子

Father and Son’s Old Master Q
The exhibition features precious Old Master Q manuscripts spanning from the 1960s to 2025, witnessing the creative legacy passed between father and son. Alfonso Wong captured daily life with exaggerated humor, giving voice to ordinary citizens during politically sensitive times. His son Joseph continued this spirit, keeping the classic alive through fierce competition for half a century. These manuscripts chronicle both personal artistic journeys and Hong Kong’s social evolution.
2️⃣九十年代科幻浪潮
司徒劍僑的《超神Z》手稿以全動畫色調結合人手彩繪，展現精密機械設定與動感戰鬥場景。這些作品折射九十年代香港面向科技的樂觀氛圍與蓬勃朝氣。系列曾創下本地精裝漫畫銷售紀錄，更成功進軍日本市場，成為香港科幻漫畫的代表之作。
90s Sci-Fi Vision
Andy Szeto’s Cyber Weapon Z manuscripts combine full animation-style coloring with hand-painted illustrations, showcasing intricate mechanical designs and dynamic battle sequences. These works reflect 1990s Hong Kong’s technological optimism and forward-looking energy. The series achieved record sales for local premium comics and successfully entered the Japanese market, becoming a landmark in Hong Kong’s sci-fi comic genre.
3️⃣黑白線條重現城寨
展覽聚焦Pen So為《九龍城寨之浪漫大逃亡》創作的場景原畫，大部分作品首次公開展出。藝術家以細膩墨線還原城寨內外景觀與建築細節，摒棄色彩卻賦予畫面強烈敘事張力。展覽特別呈獻兩幅全新創作，延伸對這一歷史符號的當代詮釋。
Kowloon Walled City in Monochrome
The showcase focuses on Pen So’s original scene illustrations for Kowloon Walled City: Romantic Escape, with most works shown publicly for the first time. The artist uses delicate ink lines to recreate the Walled City’s interior and exterior landscapes with architectural precision, eschewing color yet creating powerful narrative tension. Two new works created specifically for this exhibition further extend his contemporary interpretation of this historical symbol.

👨🎨 王家禧（1923-2017）生於天津，1956年移居香港，1961年以長子名字為筆名創作《老夫子》。作品風靡全球華人社群，成為跨世代的集體回憶。
Alfonso Wong (1923-2017) was born in Tianjin and moved to Hong Kong in 1956. He began creating Old Master Q in 1961 under his eldest son’s name as his pen name. The work became beloved among Chinese readers worldwide, forming a cross-generational collective memory.
👨🎨 王澤於1990年代中期接手父親的創作，延續《老夫子》超過半世紀的生命力，展現傳承中的創新精神。
Joseph Wong took over the creative duties in the mid-1990s, continuing Old Master Q’s vitality for over half a century while demonstrating innovative spirit within tradition.
🤖 司徒劍僑生於香港，融合日式畫風細膩與港漫動感，以女性角色描繪與科幻題材見長，被譽為香港科幻漫畫代表人物。
Andy Szeto, a Hong Kong native, merges Japanese aesthetic refinement with Hong Kong comics’ dynamic energy. Renowned for depicting female characters and sci-fi themes, he is regarded as a leading figure in Hong Kong’s sci-fi comic scene.
🏙️ Pen So（蘇頌文）是新生代香港漫畫家及插畫師，以獨特黑白線條與本土題材聞名。作品緊扣社會議題與城市記憶，融合超現實與寫實手法。
Pen So (So Chung Man) is a new-generation Hong Kong comic artist and illustrator known for his distinctive monochrome line style and local themes. His work engages with social issues and urban memory, blending surrealism with realism.
