香港本地藝術家卓家慧即將於香港舉行首次個人展覽。卓家慧的作品以其神話符號和豐富的個人經歷聞名。她善於將古典技法轉化為與我們當下時代的生動對話， 並且精通數字時代的視覺文化，以抒情幽默跨越古今。作為首次的個人展覽， 卓家慧將會展出十五件分別為四個截然不同的系列——「拾香圖」、「越境」、「四季如歌」及「對照記」的精選作品， 融合當代視覺重新詮釋水墨藝術。
Locally based artist Cherie Cheuk Ka-wai is set to present her inaugural solo exhibition in Hong Kong. Renowned for her mythological symbolism and profound life experience, Cheuk Ka-wai skillfully transforms classical techniques into a dynamic discourse with contemporary society. Her mastery of digital-era visual culture allows her to traverse time with lyrical wit, seamlessly blending tradition and modernity. This exhibition will feature over twenty curated works spanning four distinct series—Gathering of Ten Fragrances,
Transcending Boundaries, Ballad of the Seasons and Mutual Reflections—each reimagining ink art through a contemporary visual framework.

In her series Gathering of Fragrances, Border Crossings, Ballad of the Seasons, and Mutual Reflections, Cherie Cheuk Ka-wai demonstrates her masterful ink-wash painting techniques, profound artistic depth, and a boundless imagination that transcends time and space. With deft use of diverse artistic elements, she constructs a selective dialogue between her inner world and history, crafting a subtly surreal imagery. Simultaneously, by infusing traditional motifs with contemporary urban life, Cheuk creates a visual conversation between past and present—like a visual time machine, where today’s mundane objects may become tomorrow’s cultural heritage.

- In her five latest exhibited works, Cheuk incorporates iconic childhood games—Super Mario, Pac-Man, and the Rubik’s Cube—into her art pieces. Deftly employing diverse mediums, including Chinese ink, Japanese mineral pigments (Nihonga), and Western acrylics, she materializes her philosophical concept of riding objects to wander the mind.

- In “Ballad of the Seasons ”series, Cheuk employs a collage-based approach to investigate the twenty-four solar terms and their corresponding natural phenomena. Hybridizing traditional motifs with vignettes of contemporary urbanity, she navigates liminal spaces between the familiar and the uncanny, distilling the quintessential spirit of each season.

- A hallmark of CherieCheuk’s art is her whimsical animal motifs – from “The Sparrow” delicate pair to “Summer Song: Summer Solstice”‘s serene deer, “Transcending Boundaries (V)”‘s dreamlike fish, and “Hare of Inaba in the Wonderland”‘s playful bunnies – all blending natural wonder with storybook charm.

- 卓家慧 （出生於1989年香港）曾參與多個中國和韓國的交流項目，至今獲得多個獎項，包括周士心教授中國書畫獎、香港工筆畫會創作獎、詹雲白夫人紀念中國書畫奬，及劉國松水墨藝術獎等。
- Born in Hong Kong in 1989, Cheuk Ka-wai has participated in numerous art exchange programs in China and South Korea and has received multiple awards, including the Professor Chow Sze-sum Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Award, Hong Kong Gongbi Painting Association Creative Award, Mrs. Chan Wan-pak Memorial Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Award, and the Liu Kuo-sung Ink Art Award.

- Cheuk has been commissioned by Hong Kong Museum of Art on several occasions, including Fragrance of Time: In Search of Chinese Art of Scent (2024), City Rhymes: The Melodious Notes of Calligraphy, Hong Kong Museum of Art (2022-2023), Ink Global at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (2017), New Ink: An Exhibition of Ink Art by Post 1970 Artists from the Yiqingzhai Collection at Sotheby’s Hong Kong Gallery (2013), and Ink Asia (2016,17). Her works are held in the collections of Hong Kong Museum of Art, China CITIC Bank-Art in CNCBI, Hong Kong, and numerous private collections.
