TIFFANY & CO. : 當日曆成為藝術品 | WHEN CALENDAR BECOMES A WORK OF ART

Have you ever thought that a calendar can also be a beautiful work of art? This Christmas, Tiffany & Co. unites Jean-Michel Basquiat, one of the most influential American artists of the 20th century, to launch a new Advent Calendar. The blue calendar not only transforms the traditional holiday countdown into a masterpiece, it also pays tribute to New York, the birthplace of the brand.

Why it matters:

Tiffany & Co. uses “Equals Pi”, a work by Basquiat in 1982, as the core design element for the Advent Calendar. They draw inspiration from the visual language and artistic style of many of Basquiat’s works. The countdown calendar features a cabinet design, displaying 24 Tiffany Blue Box® filled with Tiffany & Co. jewelry and decorations. Tiffany & Co. subtly portrayed “Equals Pi” on the four-foot white oak door, paying tribute to the artist’s use of unconventional mediums. “Equals Pi” is composed of mathematical equations, texts, figures, expressive gestures and symbols. The work embodies Basquiat’s pure but research-based artistic perspective. Early in his career, Basquiat often painted on everyday objects such as windows, doors, and refrigerators. He restructured them with cardboard, wood, and other materials.
