有時候影像勝過千言萬語,一張圖片足以震撼人心。世界新聞攝影展2020將於3月在香港舉行,展出於世界新聞攝影年度大賽獲獎和入圍作品。這些優秀作品來自125個國家和地區,在超過4,200名攝影師和接近74,000份投稿中脫穎而出。2020年的參賽作品大部分呈現抗議活動和改革運動中的青年作用力,包括香港反送中、阿爾及利亞與蘇丹的示威。
Hong Kong will soon get a first-hand look at some of the world’s most striking images and compelling visual stories as selected in the latest World Press Photo annual photography competition. The World Press Photo Exhibition 2020 showcases works from almost 74,000 entries submitted by over 4,200 photographers from 125 countries. Protests and the role of young activists in places including Hong Kong, Algeria, and Sudan was a recurrent theme among the 2020 entries.

展覽早前因場地問題取消,現在重新安排於2021年3月29日至4月10日於金鐘金鐘道95號統一中心五樓The Desk舉行。參觀費用全免。觀眾須預先網上登記。
The private exhibition is being held at theDesk, United Center, 5/F 95 Queensway, Admiralty, and will run from March 29 until April 10, 2021. Admission is free and guests are required to register in advance to book their time to visit.
展出作品包括單幅照片和圖片故事,都是經過獨立評審團從8個組別即當代議題、一般新聞、環境、自然、長期計劃、人物肖像、突發新聞和運動組中嚴格挑選的獲獎作品。
The exhibition features single images and photo stories which an independent jury selected for honors in eight categories, namely Contemporary Issues, General News, Environment, Nature, Long-Term Projects, Portraits, Spot News and Sports.

2020年比賽的最高殊榮 —「世界新聞攝影年度最佳照片」由法新社(Agence France-Presse)的日本攝影師千葉康由(Yasuyoshi Chiba)獲得,他的作品《Straight Voice》記錄了在蘇丹喀土穆一次停電期間一名年輕示威者朗讀抗議詩句的時刻。
The 2020 competition’s top award, the World Press Photo of the Year, went to Japanese photographer Yasuyoshi Chiba from Agence France-Presse for his image Straight Voice, depicting a young man reciting protest poetry during a blackout in Khartoum, Sudan.

示威抗議和希望帶來變革的年輕活躍份子的角色是2020年參賽作品中常見的主題,也因此成為此次比賽的焦點。在眾多探索該主題的獲獎者中,有受聘於法新社、來自丹麥的尼古拉斯·阿斯弗里(Nicolas Asfouri)的照片系列 ——《Hong Kong Unrest》。
Protests and the role of young activists aiming to bring about change were highlighted by the jury since it was a recurrent theme among the 2020 entries. Among the winners which explored this theme was Hong Kong Unrest, a photo series created by Nicolas Asfouri from Denmark working for AFP.

展覽還會展出在多媒體故事大賽中獲獎的兩段影像故事,分別是《中國日報》記者DJ Clark的《Battleground PolyU》,作品獲最佳年度互動獎;及《南華早報》記者Dayu Zhang 的 《The ‘Thin Yellow Line’ Standing Between Hong Kong Police and Protesters》,作品獲得短篇故事組第二名 。
The exhibition will also feature work recognized in the Digital Storytelling Contest, including Battleground PolyU by DJ Clark from China Daily who won Interactive of the Year, and The “Thin Yellow Line” Standing Between Hong Kong Police and Protesters by Dayu Zhang of the South China Morning Post who won second place in the Short Story category.
