HKAS GRADSHOW – DISCOVERING THE BEAUTY IN TRIVIA

The Graduation Exhibition of the Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) 2018 presented by The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University and Hong Kong Art School (HKAS) features the artwork from 40 graduates. The graduates express their ideas through various mediums, they even combine different mediums to create striking artworks such as lightbox and metal prints installation, which undoubtedly show a new perspective on art.

“Sometimes Irrelevant” means how trivial things in daily life could create an influential and profound impact. It is a review of life. Most exhibition artworks are related to “home”: the feelings of home, the practices at home and the memories of home, all could inspire and motivate students. The “home” could mean family, society and our natural environment. The graduates retrospect and reflect on the trivial in daily life, something that they find important to themselves, their dreams and life. Apart from the theme of “home”, the graduates also explore other motifs like the fundamental of life, transformation of objects, identity and nature. The exhibition is a review of life, and a sharing of discovery and imagination presented the graduates, disclosing how the trivial influence their lives, themselves and their exploration of art.
