在日常生活中，我們大多會用相機記錄珍貴的瞬間。但除了照片，日常還可以用什麼方法留下？香港藝術家許琦穎（Instagram: @ Kei.wing._.hui）透過版畫的反覆印刷與壓印，讓最細微的事物——甚至一個說不清的念頭，留下不只看得見、甚至幾乎可以觸摸得到的痕跡。

In everyday life, most of us use cameras to record precious moments. But apart from photographs, how else can we preserve the everyday? Through the repeated printing and embossing of printmaking, Hong Kong artist Kei Wing Hui（Instagram: @ Kei.wing._.hui） allows even the smallest things — or even a thought that is difficult to put into words — to leave traces that can not only be seen but almost felt.

現居英國的香港藝術家許琦穎是一位版畫藝術家，尤其熱衷於凹版版畫，並以飛塵法（aquatint）作為主要創作媒介。她的作品往往從細小的事物出發：一件禮物、一隻貓、夜色中的草木，或一隻飛過天空的燕子。這些或許都不是人生中最轟烈的時刻，卻往往承載着關於記憶、人際關係與脆弱的細膩情感。

Hong Kong artist Kei Wing Hui, who is currently based in the UK, is a printmaker with a particular interest in intaglio printmaking, using aquatint as one of her main methods. Her artworks often begin with small things: a gift, a cat, plants in the night, or a swallow flying across the sky. These may not be the most dramatic moments in life, but they often carry delicate feelings about memory, relationships and vulnerability.

對許琦穎而言，日常並不是原封不動地被保存下來，時間愈久，記憶與感知也會逐漸改變。過去的經驗與當下的感受慢慢重疊，讓原本平凡的日常，在時間流逝後沉澱成帶有微妙情感的片段。

For Hui, everyday life is never preserved exactly as it was, both memory and perception slowly change. Past experiences begin to overlap with present feelings, allowing ordinary moments to settle over time into fragments filled with subtle emotions.

而在 What Remains 系列裡，許琦穎把來自摯愛之人的一件件禮物重新印在紙上。無論這些關係仍在延續，還是早已成過去，那些曾經存在過的情感，仍然被留了下來。這些日常物件，正是在在一次次印刷與壓印之中，成為紙上看得見的情感痕跡。

In the What Remains series, Hui reprints a collection of gifts once given to her by loved ones. Whether a relationship is continuing or has already become part of the past, the feelings that once existed can remain. Through repeated printing and embossing, these everyday objects become visible traces of emotion on paper.

近年，她亦把對印刷的興趣延伸至 bookbinding project，製作 you are me and i am you 和 a little blue book 等限量手工書。她運用壓凸（embossing）技術，透過壓力讓圖案在紙張表面形成凹凸的立體痕跡，為書籍封面增添觸感與視覺層次。從單張版畫到一本本可以翻閱的手工書，許琦穎始終在探索紙張可以留下甚麼。或許這正是她作品最動人的地方：她沒有把日常原封不動地保存，而是讓生活中的物件、記憶與情感，經過時間與雙手，再以新穎的方式留在紙上。

In recent years, Hui has also extended her interest in printing into bookbinding projects, creating limited-edition handmade books such as you are me and i am you and a little blue book. She uses embossing to press patterns into the paper, creating raised and recessed three-dimensional marks that add texture and visual depth to the book covers. From individual prints to handmade books that can be turned page by page, Hui continues to explore what paper can hold. Perhaps this is what makes her work so moving: instead of preserving her daily life exactly as it was, she allowed the objects, memories, and emotions of her life to be preserved on paper in novel forms through time and her hands.
