韓國藝術家李種琦（@jongkie_lee）的藝術之路，走得既浪漫而又不循常理。他起初畢業於機械工程系，後來因聽從內心對創作的召喚，毅然考入首爾著名的弘益大學並取得繪畫碩士學位。在過去十多載深耕藝術的生涯中，李氏已舉辦過逾40場個展，更頻頻亮相於由首爾到紐約等國際藝術博覽會，以其獨樹一幟的視覺美學驚艷全球藏家。

Meet Lee Jong-Kie (@jongkie_lee), a South Korean artist whose path to the canvas was beautifully unconventional. Originally graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he later followed his true calling to earn a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Seoul’s prestigious Hongik University. Over a thriving career spanning more than a decade, Lee has held over 40 solo exhibitions and become a celebrated staple at major international art fairs from Seoul to New York, captivating global audiences with his unique vision.

Lee’s signature aesthetic is a whimsical, deeply comforting blend of contemporary Western pop culture and traditional East Asian heritage. He creates peaceful, minimalist dreamscapes where historical Korean architecture, delicate Joseon white porcelain, and iconic “Moon Jars” serve as backdrops. Inhabiting these sacred, serene spaces are beloved Western cartoon and comic giants like The Simpsons and Superman. Rather than feeling out of place, these characters act as friendly travelers, exploring a harmonious world where different cultures and eras beautifully collide.

李種琦主要以色彩鮮明飽滿的塑膠彩在畫布上創作，並透過獨特的「分層技法」來實踐他的視覺構想。他通常會先以細細的筆觸，描繪出傳統東方山水或陶器那清澈純粹、直擊心靈的質感；待這層傳統文化基底穩固後，再將平塗、高飽和度的流行符號直接畫入景致之中。這種創作手法帶有強烈的個人色彩，寄託了他深沉的童年記憶——將年少時看美國卡通、收集公仔的點滴回憶，自然而然地烙印、重疊在自身的本土文化根基之上。

Working primarily with vibrant acrylics on canvas, Lee uses a distinct layering technique to bring his vision to life. He begins by meticulously rendering the clean, soulful textures of traditional Eastern landscapes or pottery. Once that heritage foundation is set, he paints the flat, highly saturated pop icons directly into the scenery. This method is deeply personal, symbolizing how his childhood memories of watching American cartoons and collecting figurines have naturally overlaid onto his native cultural roots.
