For the first time, acclaimed street artist Rone will exhibit at The Art Gallery of Western Australia in the historical Centenary Galleries in a fully immersive ticketed public exhibition. “TIME is an open-ended narrative – there’s no right or wrong way to experience the space, just trails that I hope visitors will pick up. People make their own story, and every person will experience it differently.” — Rone

The “TIME • Rone” exhibition will unfold across two floors of the historic Centenary Galleries, featuring over 12 immersive installations that provide a supreme audio-visual experience, with soundscapes crafted by Nick Batterham. Colin Walker, the director of the Art Gallery of Western Australia, stated: “This exhibition marks a significant moment as the first immersive experience created in the nearly twenty years since the Centenary Galleries opened.”

The exhibition broadly showcases the pursuit of beauty amidst decay, crafted into a multi-sensory installation experience. It allows visitors to breathe and resonate with the medieval Australian relics in the antiquated Centenary Galleries, offering an unprecedented experience.

墨爾本藝術家 Tyrone ‘Rone’ Wright 在過去二十年以其獨特的大型畫像和氛圍深邃的多媒體裝置而聲名鵲起。自 2016 年起，藝術家的創作規模更越見大膽破格。Rone 敏銳細膩地轉化那些廢棄的、被遺忘的空間，邀請觀眾投入豐富的官能體驗，進入引人入勝的虛構歷史橋段，探索美與廢，實物與失落等迥異主題。其突破性項目《帝國》（Empire，2019 年）、《奧米加計劃》（The Omega Project，2017年）、及《虛無》（Empty，2016 年）吸引了廣泛觀眾的目光，並蜚聲於國際媒體間，奠定其衝擊類型、破格創新的地位。

Over the past two decades, Melbourne-based artist Tyrone ‘Rone’ Wright has established an international reputation for his distinctive large-scale portraits and hauntingly atmospheric multimedia installations – which, since 2016, have pursued an increasingly ambitious scale. Through his sensitive, detailed transformations of derelict and forgotten spaces, Rone invites audiences to engage in richly sensory experiences that present intriguing fictional histories and explore the divergent themes of beauty and decay, materiality and loss. His ground-breaking projects Empire (2019), The Omega Project (2017), and Empty (2016) have drawn broad audiences and gained international media attention, cementing his role as a genre-pushing innovator. 

Breaking free from the confines of the traditional gallery model, Rone has embraced a path less traveled, affording him the flexibility to explore new artistic horizons. Rone’s work is held in permanent collections at the National Gallery of Australia and the National Gallery of Victoria. He is co-founder of Everfresh Studio, an artist collective based in Collingwood, Australia.

Situated in the heart of Perth’s cultural centre, The Art Gallery of Western Australia houses the State Art Collection of over 18,600 works valued at $361 million. The Gallery is highly regarded for its collection of works by Western Australian and First Nations artists, innovative collection display approach, and a vibrant program of leading contemporary exhibitions and events.

The Gallery was founded in 1895 and occupies a precinct of three heritage buildings on the south-eastern corner of the Perth Cultural Centre, including the former Perth Police Courts, which are part of the Centenary Galleries. The main Gallery opened in 1979 and is a unique Brutalist building by architect Charles Sierakowski.
