朴閏敬的現代文字圖|PARK YOON-KYUNG’S MODERN WORD PAINTINGS

象形文字,顧名思義就是用文字刻畫意象。在中國文化中,象形文字有著悠久而古老的歷史。韓國藝術家朴閏敬用文字將韓國的傳統繪畫“문자도”(文字圖)轉化為當代藝術。

In Chinese culture, there is a long and ancient history of Hieroglyph for Chinese Characters which is the inscription of imagery in words. Korean artist Park Yoon-Kyung takes a play in words, transforming traditional Korean painting, “문자도”, (Moon-ja-do, 文字圖) into contemporary art.

朴閏敬在香港的個人展覽「延續生命的態度」中鼓勵觀眾在圖像和文本之間進行閱讀。她的創作和藝術方法受「文字圖」的啟發,將韓文和漢字結合成新穎的圖像,並加上鮮豔大膽的顏色為觀眾帶來強烈的文化和視覺衝擊力。

The artist’s modern adaptation in her solo exhibition “The Attitude that Sustains Our Lives” in Hong Kong encourages the audience to read between the boundaries of image and text. Her creation and artistic approach inspired by “Moon-ja-do”, manipulates visual Korean and Chinese characters into novel images. The jumbling of words contemplated with visually shocking colors is a means for cultural stimulation and aesthetic pleasure.

這是朴閏敬與Soluna Fine Art 的第二次個人展覽,是她早前另一個展覽「異體」的延伸。畫廊展示了朴閏敬的繪畫裝置,她以半透明的雪紡來進行創作,輕盈又透明的織物與畫家沉重的筆觸之間剛好達到了一個平衡。這些難以理解的字母和符號被筆觸分層,創造出充滿活力和大膽的色彩,經得起時間的考驗。

This is Park’s second solo exhibition with Soluna Fine Art which is an extension of the artist’s recent successful “Yi-Tai” painting installation. The gallery showcases the two exhibitions with towering structures, abstract paintings incorporated with stretch chiffon. The transparency of the fabric creates a balance with the heavy brushstrokes that drip in boundless directions. The incomprehensible letters and symbols are layered by the brushstrokes, creating vibrant and bold colors that stand against the test of gravity and time.
