Celebrating a decade of whimsical wonder, artist Kasing Lung’s beloved LABUBU and THE MONSTERS universe arrives at Asia Society Hong Kong Center. Presented by HSBC, “MONSTERS BY MONSTERS: NOW AND THEN” brings Nordic mythology-inspired fantasy into tangible reality.

這場展覽透過沉浸式空間設計,將龍家昇十年創作軌跡完整呈現。從2015年《精靈三部曲》繪本誕生至今,觀眾可以近距離欣賞珍貴手稿、原畫創作,以及首度展出的大型雕像藝術品。展覽特設鏡房空間,利用鏡面無限延伸的視覺效果,收納歷年THE MONSTERS公仔珍藏,營造出獨特的奇幻藝術宇宙,讓觀眾置身精靈世界的魔幻維度。
This immersive showcase chronicles Kasing Lung’s decade-long creative odyssey through precious manuscripts, original paintings, and large-scale sculptural works making their debut. The exhibition features a specially designed mirrored room where infinite reflections create a mesmerizing portal into the MONSTERS universe, housing a comprehensive collection of figurines from 2015 to present and offering visitors an enchanting glimpse into the whimsical dimensions of these beloved characters.

1️⃣藝術迴廊
步入藝術迴廊展區,龍家昇的繪畫原作與手稿展現眼前。從細膩的筆觸到層次豐富的色彩運用,觀眾得以深入了解每個角色誕生的過程。這些珍貴手稿記錄著《神秘的布卡》、《柏度與少女》、《米羅安魂曲》等繪本的創作歷程,揭示LABUBU與精靈夥伴背後充滿哲思的角色設計。
Art Corridor
The Art Corridor presents Kasing Lung’s original paintings and manuscripts in intimate detail. From delicate brushwork to richly layered colour palettes, visitors discover the birth process of each character. These precious manuscripts document the creative journey behind picture books including “The Monsters”, “Pato & The Girl”, and “Miro’s Requiem”, revealing the thoughtful philosophy embedded in LABUBU and companions’ character designs.

2️⃣鏡房宇宙
以鏡面打造的夢幻空間展示2015年至今的THE MONSTERS公仔收藏。鏡面反射創造出無限延伸的視覺效果,彷彿走進LABUBU的平行宇宙。在這個充滿奇幻氛圍的空間裡,觀眾可以細細品味十年來的創作演變,感受精靈天團從繪本角色蛻變為文化符號的歷程。
Mirrored Universe
A dreamlike mirrored space showcases THE MONSTERS figurine collection spanning from 2015 to present. The reflective surfaces generate infinite visual extensions, creating the sensation of stepping into LABUBU’s parallel universes. Within this fantastical atmosphere, visitors can appreciate the creative evolution across ten years, witnessing the transformation of these characters from picture book figures into cultural icons.


3️⃣光影遊樂場
互動光影設計打造出充滿童趣的體驗空間。LABUBU的調皮本性在光影交錯間展現無遺,觀眾可以參與一場巧思滿溢的捉迷藏遊戲,與精靈們展開有趣互動。這個展區將想像力轉化為實際體驗,讓每位訪客重新找回內心的童真。
The Playground of Light
Interactive light and shadow installations create a playfully immersive experience. LABUBU’s mischievous nature comes alive through the interplay of illumination, inviting visitors to participate in an imaginatively designed hide-and-seek adventure with the characters. This zone transforms imagination into tangible experience, reconnecting every visitor with their inner child.

4️⃣大型雕像
本次巡展特別首度展出多個大型雕像藝術品,將平面繪本角色立體化呈現。這些雕像作品展現精靈世界的多重維度,讓觀眾從不同角度感受角色的魅力。在展覽尾聲,LABUBU與精靈夥伴齊聚一堂,為每位訪客送上祝福。
Large Sculptures
This touring exhibition unveils multiple large-scale sculptural artworks for the first time, bringing picture book characters into three-dimensional reality. These sculptural pieces reveal multiple dimensions of the MONSTERS world, allowing visitors to experience the characters’ charm from various perspectives. At the exhibition’s conclusion, LABUBU and companion spirits gather to bid farewell and offer blessings to every visitor.

🎨 龍家昇(Kasing Lung)是一位香港藝術家,以繪本《Oki》榮獲歐洲繪本比賽冠軍。2015 年開始推出《精靈三部曲》繪本,創作出深受北歐神話啟發的LABUBU與THE MONSTERS奇幻世界。十年間,這些古靈精怪的精靈跨越文化與地域界限,成為兼具潮流與情感共鳴的文化符號。
Kasing Lung is a Hong Kong artist who won the European Picture Book Competition with his work “Oki”. Beginning in 2015, he launched “The Monsters Trilogy” of picture books, creating the fantastical world of LABUBU and THE MONSTERS inspired by Nordic mythology. Over the past decade, these whimsical spirits have transcended cultural and geographical boundaries, becoming cultural symbols that resonate with both contemporary trends and emotional connection.
