First Piece: The Drawers of Life
In addition to showcasing 16 miniature sets, 2 new creations are designed especially for Hong Kong. The first piece, “The Drawers of Life,” captures the unique, diverse, and dynamic streetscape of Hong Kong through MUJI products. It features protruding street signs, air conditioners mounted on uneven building facades alongside iron railings, and double-decker buses and trams traversing the city. Imagine each drawer as a building, and behind products resembling air conditioning units lie the everyday moments of people’s lives. After viewing this work, you may come to see Hong Kong’s streets in a new light—like rows of drawers holding countless stories, intricate and full of life.

Second Piece: Little Big City
The second piece, “Little Big City,” recreates the panoramic view from Victoria Peak. By scaling down skyscrapers in contrast to the miniature figures on the hillside, a sense of depth and distance is evoked. As you observe, try guessing which part of the city each MUJI item represents—it adds to the fun. Viewed from another angle, the scene transforms into the iconic view of Hong Kong Island across Victoria Harbour. This shifting perspective is part of the artwork’s unique charm.

XL Size Waves & Jumpoo from Shampoo
In the miniature world, ordinary things appear larger than life. “XL Size Waves”: Even the tiny wrinkles on a pair of jeans can look like waves suitable for surfing. And by the way—the islands are made from socks! Watch out for that towering wave! In Japan, there’s a saying: “Wash your face and start over.” It’s used to encourage someone to reset and try again after a setback—to refresh their mindset. For example: “Since I couldn’t jump off the diving board, I decided to wash my face and try again.” The piece “Jumpoo from Shampoo” uses only a few items placed around a washbasin to recreate a swimming pool scene. The brave diver leaping from a shampoo bottle must have washed their face before taking the plunge.

Eyes-cream & Electri-City
“Eyes-cream”: Don’t you think colorful eyeshadow palettes lined up on a shelf look just like delicious ice cream? Things we love run out quickly—and makeup palettes and ice cream have that in common. Even children who aren’t interested in makeup can’t take their eyes off sweet, colorful ice cream. But remember… it’s just eyeshadow! “Electri-City”: As mentioned in the description, this street is made up of fully electrified apartment buildings—hence the name. It’s a literal interpretation of an all-electric urban landscape.
