「一山煙雨，一水晨；一道凡塵，一黃昏。」黃曉楓以十年前的一次獨遊經歷為藍本，繪畫出一系列結合現實與想像的風景畫，在充滿不確定性的回憶中反思世界孤獨的本相。

“Mist Mountain, Water Morning; Dusts, Dusk” Inspired by a solo journey embarked ten years ago, Apple Wong Hiu Fung has painted a series of landscape artworks that combine reality and imagination, reflecting upon the inherent solitude of the world through uncertain memories.

是次展覽的畫作是回憶結合想像的虛幻風景。​黃曉楓在創作過程中，不斷翻查遠去的風景，從十年前所寫下的文字中追溯過去的自己。但回憶總是曖昧不明的，包含了我們自己所虛構的片段，或許也如人們說的，我們的腦袋會選擇保存較美好的記憶，因此唯有當下才是徹底真實的，而當他們成為過去，一切便不再真確，於是黃感嘆：「生活如一山煙雨，朦朧而溫柔，我們每天都在虛幻與現實的山水間浮游。」

The artworks in this exhibition combine memories with imagined surreal landscapes. Wong constantly referred back to distant scenes during the creative process, retracing her past self from writings penned a decade ago. However, memories are often ambiguous, containing fragments we construct ourselves. Perhaps as people say, our minds choose to preserve more pleasant memories, making only the present thoroughly real. When they become the past, everything ceases to be certain. Thus, Wong laments, “Life is like misty mountains and rain, vague yet gentle; we float between illusion and reality in this landscape every day.”

．十年前，黃曉楓首次獨自旅行，山水間留下的是一場又一場與內心進行的對話。旅行是一種出走，人們卻常說旅行是尋找自我的過程。兜兜轉轉，繞過圈後回到起點，就像追溯到出生的那一刻，那一刻起，每個個體便開始建構屬於自己的世界，一個無法以語言、肢體表達，讓他人完全理解的獨立世界。個體的獨立，讓孤獨成為世界真實的面貌。可是，展覽有一幅作品名為《變成鳥後便能飛往你的世界》，畫裏的兩人彷彿不知曉彼此的存在，即使如此靠近，卻猶如身處兩個世界。其中一人張開雙臂，如題即將化身鳥兒飛起來，不禁讓人疑惑究竟他/她是否能飛到另一個人的世界。我們是否只能變成鳥兒，才能進入另一人的世界？

．Ten years ago, Wong embarked on her first solo journey, leaving behind a series of dialogues with her inner self amidst the landscapes. Traveling is an escape, yet people often say it’s a process of self-discovery. Going round and round, circling back to the starting point, it’s like retracing to the moment of birth. From that moment, each individual begins constructing their own world, a world that cannot be fully understood by others through language or gestures—an independent world. Individuality makes loneliness the true face of the world. However, one artwork in the exhibition is titled “Become a bird and fly to your.” In the painting, two figures seem unaware of each other’s existence; even though they are close, they appear to be in two different worlds. One of them stretches out their arms, seemingly about to transform into a bird and fly away, prompting the question of whether they can indeed fly to the other person’s world. Must we become birds to enter someone else’s world?

．「一山煙雨」一系列的畫作總讓人有一種疏離的感覺。 對比的色調染上一層灰啞的濾鏡，就像愛德華·霍普的畫作，讓畫面籠罩著寂靜，把觀眾帶往孤獨的境界。《一起靜看時間流逝》就像霍普的《夜遊者》，畫面中的人坐在一起，卻不交談，不相視。黃曉楓把人物安排在海中的一座亭子裏，亭子像一座孤島，而亭裏的兩人更像兩座孤島。灰紫色的晚霞暈染開來充滿整張畫作，黑夜就在頃刻之間，遠方的列車悄悄經過，牽牛花攀著石柱向上生長，時間正在流逝，他們的時間線卻似乎不曾交織，平行地向前駛著，兩個世界在同一個空間經歷不同的時間。

．The “Mountains of Misty Rain” series of artworks always evokes a sense of detachment. The contrasting tones are veiled with a layer of grayish filter, much like the works of Edward Hopper, enveloping the scenes in silence and leading the viewers into a realm of loneliness. “Watch time flow in silence” resembles Hopper’s “Nighthawks,” where people sit together but do not converse or make eye contact. Apple Wong Hiu Fung arranges the figures inside a pavilion amidst the sea, with the pavilion resembling a solitary island and the two figures inside it resembling two separate islands. The gray-purple hues of the evening sky spread across the entire painting, and in a fleeting moment, night falls, a distant train quietly passes by, and morning glories climb up the stone columns, growing upward. Time is passing by, yet their timelines seem never to intersect, moving forward in parallel, experiencing different times in the same space, like two worlds coexisting but traversing different timelines.

．「在我的作品中，我以減法來處理人體，去除性徵後，每個人都一樣，他們是『人』，是你和我。」黃曉楓畫中的人物面目模糊，觀眾不知道他們的性別、身份、個性，他們就只是人，可以是藝術家自己也可以是每一個觀眾。觀眾在欣賞畫作時，可以在不同角色上看見自己的臉孔，同時抽離地看見自己的處境。

．”In my artworks, I use subtraction to handle the human body. By removing sexual characteristics, everyone becomes the same; they are ‘people,’ just like you and me,” Apple Wong Hiu Fung explains. The figures in Wong’s paintings have blurred features, leaving viewers unsure of their gender, identity, or personality. They are simply human beings, representing either the artist herself or each viewer. As viewers admire the artworks, they can see their own faces in different roles, while also distantly observing their own circumstances.

Background – 黃曉楓:
香港畫家黃曉楓於香港浸會大學視覺藝術院畢業，畢業後曾於香港舉辦個人展覽，亦參與於 香港、台灣、澳門、比利時、英國、新加坡各地群展及博覽會。2017年與本地詩人璇筠、出版社艺鵠合作出版詩畫集《自由之夏》及於2018年獨立出版小誌《一臉一詞 One Portrait One Arabic》。黃曉楓於2016年獲得英國The Derwent Art Prize Young Artist Award(於London Mall Galleries展出)，2011年亦獲得Cliftons Art Prize，作品更被Cliftons所收藏 。

Apple Wong Hiu Fung is a Hong Kong artist. Upon her graduation from the School of Visual Arts of Hong Kong Baptist University, she has held personal exhibitions in Hong Kong and has participated in various art exhibitions and expos. Her works have been exhibited in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Belgium, England and Singapore. In 2017, she published a poetry and painting collection named “Summer of Freedom” in cooperation with local poet She Kwan and publisher Art and Culture Outreach. In 2018, she independently published a zine called “One Portrait One Arabic”. She acquired The Derwent Art Prize Young Artist Award in 2016, artwork was exhibited at London Mall Galleries. In 2011, She was awarded the Hong Kong Cliftons Art Prize 2011, the selected work has been collected by Cliftons. Body speaks louder than words.
