Revered by the art world as “overcoming traditional calligraphy in favor of radical expressiveness”, Yu-ichi Inoue has earned his place in the roll-call of the 20th -century’s most important artists.

The works of this Japanese artist may be based on Chinese calligraphy, but they transcend cultures, inviting the viewer on a path of discovery while presenting his philosophy on life and his own creative journey. Our Gallery is going to showcase Yui-chi’s avant-garde pieces that are perfect examples of the international appeal and thought-provoking nature of his work.

井上有一作品展將於2019年3月22日至5月4日在Our Gallery舉行。展出作品包括井上有一的早期、二戰後及晚年創作的著名作品，當中涵蓋「一字書」及「多文字書」，展現作者不同時期的創作的風格。這個展覽除了可讓觀眾親睹井上有一的著名作品外，也可以透過這些令人印象深刻的創作了解他和他的作品的魅力。

The Yu-ichi Inoue exhibition runs at Our Gallery from 22 March-4 May 2019. The works presented in this exhibition include Yu-ichi’s early works, the renowned works he created in the post-WWII era, and the works he made during the last phase of his life. From Yu-ichi’s“Ichimoji-sho” (one character 一字書) to “Tamoji-sho”(multiple-character pieces 多文字書), the works showcased in this exhibition cover many styles adopted by Yu-ichi throughout his creative years. This show allows the audience to see Yu-ichi’s works individually. At the same time, they can also focus on the person, Yu-ichi Inoue, who created these impressive works and try to
understand what makes him and his works so fascinating.
