米芝蓮星級食肆都爹利會館與「梅潔樓」合作，在會館內舉辦由藝術歷史學家毛岱康女士策展的兩個展覽︰第一個是恆常展覽「方寸之間——手卷冊頁的藝術」，另一個是為期一個月的特展「小中見大——梅潔樓藏畫王震與溥儒的藝術」。兩個展覽展出多件近代中國書畫家的罕見作品。
恆常展覽「方寸之間——手卷冊頁的藝術」在會館的三樓舉行，向大家展示梅潔樓藏畫最珍貴的手卷和冊頁作品，包括著名書晝家張大千、張善孖、江兆申等的鉅作。展覽內的「手卷」和「冊頁」都會打開裝裱讓大眾細味，除了希望觀者能清楚細看畫家時而雄勁有力、時而温柔婉約的筆觸，以及濃淡有致的墨色，策展人亦想加深大家對中國傳統書畫裝潢形制的認識，透過書畫更深入瞭解中國文化。
在四樓「小中見大——梅潔樓藏畫王震與溥儒的藝術」是補充「方寸之間」的特別展覧，精選了王震和漙儒的寶貴作品，特別是三件他們罕見的大型掛軸畫作。觀眾可近距離與藝術作品接觸，欣賞每件作品的細節。在大型畫作之外，展覽亦展出他們的手卷和畫冊。透過不同大小的作品，大眾可多面向地認識這兩個才華洋溢的藝術家。
Duddell’s is pleased to announce they are hosting two exhibitions in their restaurant, which is co-curated by M K Lau Collection’s art advisor Catherine Maudsley. The first one is a long-term exhibition named “Intimate Encounters: The Arts of Handscrolls and Albums”, which locates on the 3/F; the other one is a special one-month exhibition called “Intimate Encounters and Beyond: Hanging Scrolls, Handscrolls and Albums by Wang Zhen and Pu Ru – Paintings from the M K Lau Collections”, which locates on the 4/F and staircase. These two exhibitions have displayed many rare and important artworks created by the 20th-century Chinese ink master.
The exhibition “Intimate Encounters: The Arts of Handscrolls and Albums” on the 3/F has showcased the most valuable handscrolls and albums among the M K Lau Collections, including the masterpieces by Zhang Daqian, Zhang Shanzi, and Jiang Zhaoshen etc. The ink masters execute different degree of strength in their painting, sometimes they would hold the brush in a gentle and relaxed manner, and sometimes they would hold it strongly and powerfully. In order to let the viewers enjoy the vibrant brushstrokes and every shades of ink in the paintings clearly, all handscrolls are unrolled and framed, while the album leaves are separated and framed. Besides, the “handscrolls” and “albums “are unrolled and separated are because they are the most common forms for mounting writings, calligraphy and paintings, the curators hope that the public can therefore understand the variations between them. More importantly, the viewers can gain a greater insight in Chinese culture through this inviting and interactive exhibition.
The 4/F “Intimate Encounters and Beyond: Hanging Scrolls, Handscrolls and Albums by Wang Zhen and Pu Ru – Paintings from the M K Lau Collections” is an exhibition complementing the longer-term exhibition on the 3/F, which featuring precious artworks of artists Wang Zhen and Pu Ru. The three pieces of their large-scale and rare hanging scrolls are the highlight of this exhibition. The viewers can stand directly in front of the art pieces, to inspect every small detail and brushstrokes of the paintings closely and intimately. Apart from this, the exhibition also provides the rather small-scale handscrolls and albums of Wang and Pu, including paintings and calligraphy, which made a huge contrast with the hanging scrolls. The audiences can thus understand these two multi-talented artists comprehensively and diversely.
